Join us in the cornerstone of art training, drawing the human form. Improve your drawing ability and observation skills. In the class, we will look at many technical problems such as form, design, line, and measuring with accurate observation. Drawing concepts will include: blocking in the figure, contour and shadows, edge control, negative space, and specifics of the head and features..
Instructor, Annie Howell-Adams, is a member of Arts Student League of New York and is a San Juan Island Artist.
I love all areas of art, doing everything from portraits, figurative work, collage, monoprints, pastels, plein air painting, and abstracts! It is great when things cross over from the abstract universe to the real world, a wonderful synthesis. Above all, I am a colorist and I believe in strong drawing skills at the basis of all my work.
I draw inspiration from my surroundings, from memories, from color I see in small moments of life, light and nature.
I often work in series, exploring an idea. I try to do 100 drawings as often as possible for a platform for generating new directions. Each canvas is a new, uncharted adventure.
Students are to bring their own preferred art supplies.
