Teresa Francis is a self-taught artist based in Friday Harbor, San Juan Island. With a background as a yacht interior designer spanning 30 years. Teresa recently returned to her hometown, where she has fully embraced her passion for art.

Drawn to encaustic techniques, Teresa discovered her love for this medium and quickly became captivated by its possibilities. Her work often incorporates mixed media elements such as pastels, oil, shellac and india ink, allowing her to explore vibrant textures and colors. She finds joy in the unpredictable nature of working with encaustic (natural beeswax mixed with dammar resin), where what may seem like a mistake can transform into something striking and beautiful. Art imitating life.
