First Nation Legendary & Emerging Artists
Voices of the ancestors speak through the work of a new generation of First Nation artists and their honored mentors.
SJIMA presents its first exhibition devoted to the Indigenous Peoples of the Pacific Northwest Coast and Inuit from the Hudson Bay area. More than 30 First Nation artists are represented from five different outstand private collections.
Included are works from:
- Moon Sitting for Four by Tim Paul
- Emerging Frog by Rande Cook
Additional artists such as: Simon Charlie, Roger Gray, Tom Hunt and Troy Roberts will be represented.
Other educational materials and events will accompany the exhibition as we learn more about the cultural heritage and art of these nations.
EMERGENCE is Dialogues From the Forest Part 2. The SJIMA 2017 schedule of exhibitions explores and honors the resources of the abundant, Northwest landscape which artists transform into personal statements of celebration and genuine concern.
