About the Event

George Rodriguez, a ceramic artist from El Paso, TX, will speak at the Mullis Center on April 1, 2023, at 2 pm. He creates decorative sculptures exploring his identity and community, and his work can be found in collections such as the permanent collection at the National Mexican Museum of Art in Chicago and the Hallie Ford Museum in Salem, OR. He was awarded the Patti Warashina Luminary Award in 2017 and recognized as an Emerging Artist by the National Council on the Education of Ceramic Arts in 2019.

The latest iteration of George Rodriguez's Mexican Zodiac series features a collaborative effort with 13 Mexican and Chicanx/Chicana artists. The resulting exhibition, El Zodíaco Familiar, is now on view at SJIMA through May 29, 2023, and showcases the unique stories of each participating artist.

Don’t miss this opportunity to meet Rodriguez and discover the inspiration behind Rodriguez's decorative ceramic sculptures.
