Internationally acclaimed and multi-award winning pastel landscape artist, Steven Hill, from Lopez Island, is offering his services free, for a one-time workshop for Military Veterans in partnership with the San Juan Islands Museum of Art in the upstairs workshop.  One of Steve’s typical workshops anywhere in the country averages $600-$800, just to sign-up and for basic supplies. He is a sought after pastel workshop instructor, and has taught over 70 successful workshops in the past 14 years, all over the U.S. and in Europe. Many testimonials are available, with one attached from the president of The Olympia Art League, Olympia, WA.

This workshop will focus on all the basics that Steven teaches in his regular pastel workshops at Dakota Art Pastels and Art Center, in Mt. Vernon. Dakota is offering a deeply discounted “mini-kit” at just $60 (regular price: $105) for those who do not have pastel supplies and for this workshop only.

The mini-kit ordering and contents specifics will be emailed to participants after registration, but include both hard and soft, high quality pastel sticks and various brands of the best pastel papers-enough to get you started and painting with this versatile medium. There will be a museum facilities use fee of $75, at registration; payable to the SJIMA, a basic pastel mini-kit fee and the teaching fee is waived for a total cost of $135.
