Opening Exhibition: ‘Spirit Taking Form’


“Spirit Taking Form”

SJIMA opens its doors for the 5th Annual Artists’ Registry Show.  The artwork created in this much anticipated and popular exhibit centers around the theme, “Spirit Taking Form.”  Local artists from San Juan, Orcas and Lopez islands will exhibit a diverse collection of artwork and sculpture in clay, wood, textiles, mixed media and photography, along with paintings in oil, acrylic, encaustic, watercolor and pastel. 

SJIMA will be participating in the month long Friday Harbor Winter Festival in December.  On opening day, December 10, SJIMA will host “Christmas Cider and Art Talks” from noon until 4:00 pm.


Opening Reception for Members

On Friday, March 3rd San Juan Islands Museum of Art will open with a reception to celebrate Dialogues from the Forest: Part 1.  This event is open to members only from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m.  A great opportunity to visit with other art enthusiasts.  For more details regarding the artists please see ‘Upcoming Exhibitions.’

Dialogues from the Forest: Part 1

SJIMA is excited to open this exhibition on March 4th and it will run until May 15, 2017. Three artists explore and honor the resources of the abundant Northwest landscapes which transform into personal statements of celebration and genuine concern.  CELEBRATIONS: by Morse Clary, CHARRED TOTEMS: Suze Woolf and A REFLECTION OF VESSEL: Aaron Haba

Dialogues from the Forest: Part 3



The new exhibition opens September 16th and closes November 6, 2017.  The museum will be closed for installation from September 5 – 15th.
