Biography:

Born in the Netherlands and raised in Canada, Yvonne has lived throughout the US and settled on San Juan Island in 1990. Educated at the University of Hawaii, she began her professional art career in 1980 when juried into the Farmington Valley Art Center in Avon, CT as the Resident Glass Artist. Over the last three decades she has developed proficiency in metalsmithing and encaustic wax painting. She considers herself a multi-media artist.


Yvonne has been commissioned for art at Peace Island Hospital on San Juan Island, where her fused glass and metal sculpture is on permanent display in the lobby. Her wearable art and encaustic wax paintings have found homes in many private collections.


In over the last three decades, Yvonne has become a major contributor to the arts community. She is the founder of the SJIMA Artists’ Registry for the San Juan Islands Museum of Art, a resource to connect San Juan Islands artists.
