Born in Prince Rupert, BC in 1969 and raised in Port Simpson, Roger Gray always enjoyed the creative arts. He studied carving with his cousins, Henry Green and Mike Epp, and credits his grandfather and aunt with teaching him patience, dedication, and the value of striving for excellence. In the late 1980’s, he studied printmaking, woodblock printing, and etching at Fraser Valley College and arts education at the University of Victoria. He assisted Henry Green in 1990 with carving a ten-foot totem pole in Vancouver. Roger has been active in both visual and theater arts. Currently his focus is on carving in red cedar.
