Artist Statement:
Singleton’s large paper constructions, ZIGGURATS, reflect her love of tactile surfaces, architectural structure and scale.  Subtle patterns are made with block printing and stenciling.  Metallic leafing is used to reflect the surface light.  It creates a strong contrast to the weathered paper surface.  This work is made from Japanese WASHI paper, stitched together by hand, dyed with acrylic stains and varnishes, stenciled with metallic, iridescent and subtle colors and finally leafed with gold, copper or silver….referencing the ancient….uncovered, discovered….
