I am presently curating a collection of my Orcas Island photographs for a show at the Orcas Island Public Library in early 2022.
Thom Carnevale became a photographer in the mid-seventies in Vail, Colorado. His photographs are part of personal collections in North America and Europe. Carnevale moved to Telluride, Colorado in the 90’s and began a transition from photography to public service, becoming an award winning producer of Rocky Mountain Bedrock, a radio program surveying politics, art, religion and peace activism. In 2004, Carnevale was elected to public office serving in that capacity for a decade.
Photography reentered the scene when he retired from politics and moved to Orcas Island in 2014. Carnevale’s photographic style and vocabulary are influenced by the whispers of the wind, by the melodic tonal phrasing of the nuances of memory and by passion and patience.
